Sunetra Gupta Censored?

According to Sunetra Gupta, Professor of Theoretical Epidemiology at Oxford University, she’s finding it difficult to get journals to publish the work of her and her team. Many journal editors consider it “dangerous” because it challenges the lockdown orthodoxy. The Evening Standard has more:
“We’ve found it difficult to publish our work in mainstream journals,” she said, adding “sadly anything that deviates from the consensus has been met with criticism – not simply of the science, but we’ve been labelled as saying things that are dangerous.”
Professor Gupta, who regards herself as on the Left politically, is concerned about the impact of lockdown on the poorest and most disadvantaged. She welcomes the re-opening of schools since“evidence is mounting that early exposure to these various coronaviruses is what enables people to survive them”.
Praising the return of schoolchildren to the classroom, she said that while children might transmit the virus, trade offs have to be made and that “we can take strong measures” to still protect the vulnerable who need to shield.
Scientists like Sunetra Gupta and Carl Heneghan of Oxford’s Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine are the academics our political leaders should be listening to to get a wider perspective, particularly as real-world data consistently backs up their ideas and contradicts the outlandish predictions of Neil Ferguson and his team at Imperial College London. It is disturbing that leading academics like Professor Gupta are finding themselves frozen out of prestigious platforms because their ideas are deemed “dangerous” by biased scientific journal editors.
Worth remembering this isn’t the first time a scientist who’s research challenges the conventional Covid wisdom has had difficulty getting a paper published. Gabriela Gomes also had a paper rejected. The reason given by the editor of the journal in her case was: “Given the implications for public health, it is appropriate to hold claims around the herd immunity threshold to a very high evidence bar, as these would be interpreted to justify relaxation of interventions, potentially placing people at risk.”
As Sue Denim pointed out in Lockdown Sceptics: “The scientific establishment has started working backwards from their preferred social policies to whatever research supports that goal. For as long as they believe they are fighting a heroic moral battle against vaguely arrayed ‘forces’, trust in them will continue to fall.”
Social Distancing is Holding Us Back

Jeremy Warner hit the nail on head in the Telegraph yesterday when it comes to the Government’s contradictory strategy on social distancing and getting people back to work.
Go back to the office and help save the economy, the Government urges, but how can this be done while social distancing remains in place and ministers warn that crowding together in confined spaces, such as commuter trains, may spark a renewed outbreak?
Much office space is condemned to working at no more than half capacity as long as social distancing is required, and some tower blocks, reliant as they are on transporting workers at speed between floors by elevator, a good deal less. What in any case is the point of coming back to the office if social distancing removes many of the team building benefits of physical interaction?
It is primarily this constraint, not the attractions of home working, that keeps employees away.
The Government cannot have it both ways; it either thinks the pandemic a still clear and present danger to life and the NHS, or it thinks the risks to the economy of continuing as we are the more potent threat.
I’m pretty sure I know which, yet ministers run around like headless chickens, apparently terrified of what their scientific advisers might say, or worse still, the opinion polls, if they engage properly with a back to work strategy.
Instead they act like Wilkins Micawber, vainly hoping that something will turn up to rescue them from a problem largely of their own making. A vaccine would do the trick, they say, or perhaps mass, instant diagnostic testing. That too may save us. Indeed it might, but in the meantime, it is like waiting for Godot. They can’t even get their act together on common-or-garden swab testing; what hope for 20-minute spit tests?
Let the fit, young and healthy work as normal, and the vulnerable make their own choices as to what risks they should take. This has been the obvious solution from the start, yet we have allowed ourselves to be guided by China’s brutalist example of economically crippling lockdown.
Well worth reading the whole thing.
Postcard From Dumfries

We’ve published a new postcard today – this one from Dumfries in Scotland. Like most British towns, most of the locals are only half-heartedly complying with social distancing rules.
People of all ages and states of mobility passed by my bench and I was surprised at the variation in facial appearance due to the wearing or not wearing of face nappies. Many shoppers were wearing their masks under the chin, sliding them over their mouth as they entered various shops and trade outlets. Many others were wearing their masks in the open air, but interestingly only covering their mouths. I guessed that this was to get some oxygen into their starving lungs. As it was obviously lunch break there were several groups of schoolchildren making their way towards the fast food outlets, some still wearing the masks that had no doubt been worn in school. The ones that did have masks had them slung in carefree style under their chins. This tempting target drew the attention of other kids, who delighted in stretching the elastic ear fastenings and then letting go, causing one lad to rip off the mask and surprisingly deposit it in a nearby bin instead of tossing it in the gutter alongside other discarded masks. No social distancing by these kids, bless ’em.
Worth reading in full.
Europe’s ‘Second Wave’ Has Fizzled Out

Ross Clark in the Spectator points out the ‘second wave’ Emperor has no clothes.
Has the Covid ‘second wave’ already run out of steam? On July 9th, just when Britain was reopening the hospitality sector and other businesses, the World Health Organisation announced that the pandemic was ‘accelerating’. Much of the coverage in Britain also implies that we are possibly in the early stages of a second wave. But that talk is lagging behind the data. Globally, the number of new recorded cases peaked on July 31st at 291,691 and has shown a slight downward trend ever since. In terms of deaths, they peaked at 8,502 on April 17th and have also been on a slight declining trend ever since. On the worst day in the past week – September 2nd – 6,312 deaths were recorded. Most of the worst-affected countries are now showing downward trends in both daily cases and deaths, including the US, Brazil, Russia, Peru, Colombia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile and Iran. Among the top dozen worst-affected countries, only India is now showing an upwards trend in deaths. Spain and Argentina are showing slight upwards trends in new cases, but not deaths. All these figures, of course, have to be read in conjunction with a huge increase in testing – so a slight increase in new cases does not necessarily imply that the disease is in fact spreading.

Worth noting that Spain is the only European country to see an uptick in Covid hospital admissions in the past few weeks – which, as an early adopter of mandatory face nappies, only goes to show how ineffective they are. Here are the graphs for new admissions since the Ministry of Health began reporting daily figures again two weeks ago. Looks pretty flat – wouldn’t be surprised if that’s as high as it’s going to go.
Carry On Covid Camping

A reader writes to tell us about his camping holiday in Scotland. Bedwetters everywhere, unfortunately.
I’m on a biking and camping tour of Scotland. In Shetland, I phoned three campgrounds, and two of them appeared to be closed. The other one answered the phone and said that the toilet and shower facilities weren’t open so it was impossible for me to camp there.
In Orkney, I found a campsite where I could camp. I managed to book online while hiking to the Old Man of Hoy – the internet is everywhere. I arrived at the campground and set up camp as far from other people as I could. When the warden arrived, she politely informed me that I had to move because if I’d consulted the PDF file they’d sent me while hiking on Hoy I would have seen I’d been allocated a campsite number. Moving my tent was a challenge in the howling gale and had no effect on anyone’s likelihood of contracting Covid.
This campsite only allows one person in the toilet/shower at one time. There is one gents, one ladies, and one disabled. The host kindly lets anyone use any of them, because otherwise you have to queue up and freeze your arse off at 8am in the wind. Since people are always walking past each other, outside and in the camp building, sometimes without masks, it’s difficult to see how these token gestures reduce the risk of infection. The warden explained that it’s the law and the police would close the campsite down if they saw it was being broken.
It seems to me that this is all the consequence of desperate efforts by the Nic Sturge-on regime to look like it’s doing something. The entire country is now entangled with these useless bureaucratic laws, which take no account of actual conditions in Scotland’s diverse camping facilities. I’m reminded of the character in Yes Minister who says “something must be done – this is something – therefore this must be done”. It’s like encouraging people to donate aluminium saucepans to melt down to make aircraft engines in World War Two, despite knowing that it’s not possible. Having whipped the population into a state of near frenzy with fear, the First Minister now feels obliged to do something – anything – to give the appearance she’s managing the crisis.
Man Pepper Sprayed and Arrested For Not Wearing Mask On Train
Shocking scenes reminiscent of Kim-Jong Dan’s Victoria arrive in Britain. Someone needs to tell the police that the law allows for exemptions and people are not required to prove it. Good write-up in the Telegraph, which quotes a human rights expert saying the British Transport Police officer in the video was wrong to try and forcibly remove the man from the train.
Following the incident, Vicki Prais, an independent human rights consultant, said: “The government guidance makes clear provision for exemptions to wearing a face mask including on health related grounds.
“Moreover, the guidance provides for exemption cards which individuals may, if they so wish, carry with them but are not obliged to do so.
“The measures deployed by the police in this instance appear to be a disproportionate response to the incident. In the first instance, the police should have questioned the individual further about his medical condition and reasons for not wearing a mask.”
We’ve reached out to the gentleman concerned to see if he’d like us to help raise money for his legal defence fund. Will keep you posted.
Students Need Face to Face Teaching
A Lockdown Sceptics reader, Professor Roger Watson from the University of Hull, has been in touch to say he was one of 104 academic signatories of a letter in the Times on Friday rejecting the UCU’s demand to move all teaching online this year:
Sir, The general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU) has demanded that all university teaching be moved online this coming year (“Universities risk being generators of a second wave”, Aug 31). As university staff and UCU members we reject this demand and wish to see a return to face-to-face teaching as soon as possible.
Educational research shows that online learning greatly decreases student attainment and increases drop-out rates, especially for the most disadvantaged students. This is because teaching is ultimately about creating meaning through human relationships, which can only truly be cultivated in person. Technology can support but never replace face-to-face interaction, which is vital not just between students and teachers but among students. Moreover, students have also been denied sociability long enough. Many have been cooped up for months, with mental health problems soaring. Disadvantaged students, in particular, lack the quiet space and IT equipment needed to engage in online learning. Compared with these well-established harms, the risk of Covid-19 has declined across society, and has always been minuscule for young people.
Remote-working provisions should, of course, be made for all students and staff who are vulnerable or co-habit with those who are. The rest of us should be allowed to return to campuses with modest restrictions.
Attending a Keep Britain Free Meeting in Lewes

A reader went along to a Keep Britain Free meeting in Lewes and has written to tell us about it.
Earlier this week I went to a local Keep Britain Free meeting and came away with mixed feelings, rather like some readers reported about the Trafalgar Square demo. These mixed feelings might resonate with other KS readers so I thought a few reflections might be helpful.
This was apparently the third such meeting, attendance having swiftly grown to 50+. It was great to see such a varied crowd not buying in to the Establishment line. I went with a near neighbour who had connected via the LS forum and we were both attracted by the clear and practical KBF mission to oppose all the terrible lockdown regulations. However it soon became clear that this was a side issue for many. There was soon an unruly chorus articulating various conspiracy theories about vaccines, Bill Gates, Big Pharma and the new world order. While some of this stuff may contain a germ (or indeed virus) of truth there seemed to be little awareness that this is a highly contested field. The Bill Gates stuff I find particularly hard to swallow: the guy has made a fortune so why exactly would be want to collude in a century old conspiracy to exterminate half the world’s population?! And while there are no doubt dark forces manipulating events to sell a vaccine it is hard to see that this plot started in 1913, given the huge advances in life expectancy and health standards we have seen since.
It seems some of the conspiracy theorists are animated in much the same way as wokies in that they already know the Truth so are not that interested in debating, persuading and listening. Things which I as a Spectator reading conservative libertarian hold dear. And which are vital if a common sense campaign is ever to succeed. I can’t believe Simon Dolan meant to just create an echo chamber for some of the more outlandish interpretations of the current mess. For every person attracted by the David Icke roadshow I wager that a dozen potential sceptics will be put off.
So my neighbour and I were left wondering if we wouldn’t just be hopelessly outnumbered but we’ll probably give it another go in the hope that a meeting can be chaired in such a way as to focus on pragmatic outcomes which can win support for the cause.
“Irrational and Disproportionate” – New Legal Challenge to Quarantine Laws

A solicitor is taking the Government to court over its quarantine dartboard shenanigans. Details provided by a colleague of Francis Hoar, one of the barristers who is acting for Simon Dolan and who is now acting for this gentleman as well.
A businessman and his family are suing the Government after they were placed into quarantine following their return from an overseas holiday in Croatia.
The father – who is a UK solicitor but is remaining anonymous to protect the identities of his two school-aged children – has instructed lawyers to launch Judicial Review proceedings, claiming the Government has wrongly imposed quarantine laws with no scientific justification. The Statement of Grounds names Transport Secretary Grant Shapps as the respondent.
The businessman has also launched a crowdfund campaign via legal funds platform CrowdJustice to support the case.
The lawyer seeking Judicial Review over travel quarantine is represented by barrister Francis Hoar of Field Court Chambers, who also represents Simon Dolan in his judicial review. It is being brought on six grounds, which are as follows:
1. There is insufficient scientific evidence to establish that the legislation is necessary to protect public health and it is therefore unlawful (ultra vires) under the Public Health Act;
2. Indiscriminate quarantine is a violation of the right to liberty under Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights and does not fall within limited exceptions as not every person returning from an affected country is infected or potentially infected;
3. It is a disproportionate breach of Article 5 even if it could fall within the above exception; and also a breach of the right to a private and family life (Article 8);
4. It is irrational and disproportionate generally;
5. There is no policy behind the addition or removal of countries from the ‘safe list’ and no scientific evidence to support an arbitrary limit of 20 cases per 100,000; and
6. There is no scientific evidence justifying removing Croatia (and Austria and Trinidad and Tobago) from the safe list in the latest amendment. The claimants have asked for the case to be dealt with by the High Court urgently and have asked for a hearing in early October.
We wish them every success. You can support the crowdfunder here.

Love in the Time of Covid

We have created some Lockdown Sceptics Forums that are now open, including a dating forum called “Love in a Covid Climate” that has attracted a bit of attention. We’ve also just introduced a section where people can arrange to meet up for non-romantic purposes. We have a team of moderators in place to remove spam and deal with the trolls, but sometimes it takes a little while so please bear with us. You have to register to use the Forums, but that should just be a one-time thing. Any problems, email the Lockdown Sceptics webmaster Ian Rons here.
Small Businesses That Have Re-Opened
A few months ago, Lockdown Sceptics launched a searchable directory of open businesses across the UK. The idea is to celebrate those retail and hospitality businesses that have re-opened, as well as help people find out what has opened in their area. But we need your help to build it, so we’ve created a form you can fill out to tell us about those businesses that have opened near you.
Now that non-essential shops have re-opened – or most of them, anyway – we’re focusing on pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as other social venues. As of July 4th, many of them have re-opened too, but not all (and some of them are at risk of having to close again). Please visit the page and let us know about those brave folk who are doing their bit to get our country back on its feet – particularly if they’re not insisting on face masks! If they’ve made that clear to customers with a sign in the window or similar, so much the better. Don’t worry if your entries don’t show up immediately – we need to approve them once you’ve entered the data.
“Mask Exempt” Lanyards

We’ve created a permanent slot down here for people who want to buy (or make) a “Mask Exempt” lanyard/card. You can print out and laminate a fairly standard one for free here and it has the advantage of not explicitly claiming you have a disability. But if you have no qualms about that (or you are disabled), you can buy a lanyard from Amazon saying you do have a disability/medical exemption here (now showing it will arrive between Oct 7th to Oct 16th). The Government has instructions on how to download an official “Mask Exempt” notice to put on your phone here. You can get a “Hidden Disability” tag from ebay here and an “exempt” card with lanyard for just £3.99 from Etsy here.
Don’t forget to sign the petition on the UK Government’s petitions website calling for an end to mandatory face nappies in shops here (now over 30,400).
A reader has started a website that contains some useful guidance about how you can claim legal exemption.
And here’s a round-up of the scientific evidence on the effectiveness of mask (threadbare at best).

Good news from here in Sweden – IKEA has re-opened its restaurants 🙂
They tend to be heavily used, so hopefully the lifting of the 50-person limit for gatherings will go ahead as previously mentioned on 1st October..
Think of us as you sip your coffee!
I did not actually stop for coffee – was in a bit of a rush today! Usually have coffee there mid-week, as it is free then if you are an ‘IKEA family’ member (ie have the loyalty card) 🙂

UN Forced to Admit Gates-funded Vaccine is Causing Polio Outbreak in AfricaSEPTEMBER 4, 2020 BY NEWS WIRE
This really should be one of the biggest public health scandals of the decade, but instead it’s given little attention – mainly because of the high-profile nature of the people and organisations involved.
https://21stcenturywire.com/2020/09/04/un-forced-to-admit-gates-funded-vaccine-is-causing-polio-outbreak-in-africa/
https://www.who.int/csr/don/01-september-2020-polio-sudan/en/
Is this ‘new’ news? I read about this happening with a Gates-funded vaccine in India a long time ago – I believe India kicked them ut, after which polio numbers dropped considerably (unsurprisingly..)
I guess the WHO announcement is new Carrie.
Yes, that even they are admitting it is positive!!! Especially as it will likely have a negative effect on the promotion of any other of Gates’ vaccines. I’m guessing his polio one took longer to develop that any Covid ones!
It was in their last polio update from their regular meetings about a month ago and discussed on here a few weeks back.
This is from their June statement No. 25, since then there has been No. 26 and individual country briefs stating the same.:
“Similarly, the significantly greater than expected number of circulating vaccine derived polio virus type-2 (cVDPV2) outbreaks are another major challenge.”
https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/23-06-2020-statement-of-the-25th-polio-ihr-emergency-committee
For Gates though, the answer to everything seems to be ‘more vaccines’…
Vaccine him. With Hemlock.
Bill Gates is the 21st Century’s top snake oil salesman.
I noticed the other week when they were celebrating the eradication of polio worldwide, they referred to it as ‘wild polio ‘, obviously making a distinction between real polio and vaccinated derived polio. But then, unfortunately any negative comments on Gates are derided as conspiracy, which is even reaffirmed in today’s LS. As for derision of anti vaxxer, most have no problems with tried and tested vaccines, but rightly have reservations and concerns over rushed out ones, to the point the government are attempting to change the law to reduce the robustness of licensing. If concerns over vaccines are so ludicrous, then question why the government has a website dedicated to compensation claims, and if no risk why grant indemnity to the pharmaceutical companies, compare with the swine flu vaccine. Although not a vaccine, remember the aggressive marketing of thalidomide.
Well said.
Thalidomide was not tested properly, the U.K. licensee accepted the results from the German manufacturer without question. The authorities in the USA weren’t happy and so didn’t license it. It is now used to treat leprosy and some cancers.
Probably only the safe enantiomer of it is in use. Thalidomide has molecules that exhibit stereoisomerism. In layman’s terms it has two versions of itself which are mirror images.
One of them is safe, but they didn’t realise that at the time.
By the time the damage had been done the reputation of the drug was such that it could never again be used for it’s original purpose.
Thalidomide used for other purposes is now marked as being unsafe in pregnancy.
There are those who say that the polio virus is fairly harmless and that the disease called polio was actually caused by poisons and pesticides including arsenic and DDT. In the fifties people were actually advised to spray children’s bedrooms with DDT to get rid of pests! https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/environmental-toxins/pesticides-and-polio-a-critique-of-scientific-literature/ This might be so or it might not, but from what we’ve seen in the case of covid19 you can’t help thinking that there might be two sides to the polio debate too.
My mother had polio as a child at that time (still limps as a result). I shall ask her if DDT was ever used in her home..
DDT was used to kill insects in the home into the 1960’s.
My teenage bedroom was painted with emulsion that contained IFCA (Insect and fly controlling agent). Turned out to be DDT.
It is mostly hygiene, malnutrition, clean water and sanitation problems.
And there’s people like myself who say that’s bullshit.
Polio has been around for a lot longer than pesticides.
It’s the promotion of this sort of crap that is giving the anti-lockdown movement a bad name.
According to Wikipedia polio is depicted in art from thousands of years ago. First identified in the 18th century.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polio
Look, I don’t like Gates, but I don’t go along with your idiotic theories about him wanting to kill people with vaccines.
If at first you don’t succeed try try again.
India conducted an extensive investigation and then kicked the Gates Foundation out of the country. As of six months ago it was quite easy to find a few stories on this online, including a presser by the head of the Ministry of Health.
This was pre-Modi. Then I think last year the Gates Foundation gave Modi a big public award of some kind, and guess what, the Gates foundation is once more sitting pretty in India.
Of course when the news stories get scrubbed it is easy for Snopes and their ilk to label this fake news and conspiracy theory.
Look at CrowdTangle to understand the mechanism of how that censorship occurs. Amazing Polly youtube latest video gives a good explanation of their set up.
The Guardian reported that the epidemic in east Africa was being driven by the vaccine. They avoided mentioning Mr Gates and gave the story a slightly different spin. Nevertheless, it is a hopeful sign. Those who like the establishment media may avoid 21wire or zerohedge, but take the Grauniad seriously (yes, there are still such people around!). https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/sep/02/vaccine-derived-polio-spreads-in-africa-after-defeat-of-wild-virus
Mentioning Gates might jeopardise the flow of cash to The Guardian from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Why didn’t they mention BG?
Yep, the B&M foundation ‘donate’ to many organisations! The Guardian, BBC in action, NPR, fact-checkers (Poynter), etc etc.
Hollywood beat Bill to it, The Constant Gardener, it’s all there.
predictive programming?
I haven’t seen the film
Big pharma using Africans as Guinea Pigs and killing lots of them in the process.
Hollywood? The great John le Carre was the author and it was published in 2001.
Quite right, figure of speech.
Sorry I was being picky wasn’t I!
A short history of polio is possibly in order here.
Polio is a virus passed via the pro-faecal route.
In areas with poor sanitation it is endemic.
It was endemic in England until quite recently.
Children were effectively immune as they were exposed to the virus.
When sanitation improved, this immunity disappeared and there was an epidemic in the 1950’s. The oral vaccine became available in the late 1950’s early 1960’s when it was administered by sugar lump.
The epidemic in the 50’s appears to have affected the older children who were put into iron lungs.
From the pictures I have seen of the post vaccination paralysis it appears that it is older children affected.
Maybe, just maybe, giving the vaccination to older children was the issue, after all they had been living with polio for ten years or so without a problem.
There was an epidemic in the early 1930s in the US I believe. I knew someone affected who caught it as a child and was paralysed for life from waist down.
That would probably coincide with improvements in sanitation, which is only a hypothesis. Salk created the oral vaccine in the mid 1950’s. I know that I had the sugar lump when I was small, probably the booster at 4 or 5 years of age.
A little bit of sugar makes the medicine go down, in the most delightful way.
FDR had polio. He got it as an adult.
https://www.fdrlibrary.org/polio
In the fifties it was called infantile paralysis.
https://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/poliomyelitis/fact_sheet.htm
I had both the shot and the sugar cube when ca. 7, as well as vaccination for smallpox and I think diphtheria as toddler.
Nothing for measles, mumps, chicken pox. Instead, we all just caught the diseases and lived to tell the tale!
The 1st Earl of Snowdown also contracted polio as a child:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_Armstrong-Jones,_1st_Earl_of_Snowdon
As a result of his disability, he became an advocate for those with disabilities and research, design and funding into auxiliary aids.
I hope that you don’t get shingles later on. I did. Yuk!
My memory of polio as a child of the 60’s was of older people (30’s?) clanking around in metallic leg braces but knowing that t it wasn’t going to get me. Small town, north Midlands.
I thought polio was re-emerging in Pakistan in part because the CIA used a polio clinic as cover when capturing bin laden.
But if you read the WHO statement, they recommend more vaccinations.
For Gates though, the answer to everything seems to be ‘more vaccines’…
Or, as he pronounces the word, vackk-seeen.
Hair of the dog …..
Prairie Oyster. M.F.K. Fisher The Art Of Eating.
Yes, it’s his thing.
Bill needs a vaccine to shut him up.

Is the tide turning?
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/virus-shifts-to-young-as-lockdown-fears-ease-0nhvv2dhf (Behind paywall)
Main theme: Call for normality with most cases in under-40s
Which is such nonsense. The virus isn’t shifting to the young, the tests are. But I can get behind the main theme (haven’t read the article because paywall and am going by summary in the URL itself 🙂
You can read it on the BBC website in the Papers section, just zoom in, its a bit blurred but readable.
Obviously most of this is “old news” to us (and, as you say, not an accurate representation of the facts – there have always been lots of cases amongst the young, it’s just that testing is showing them).
But what may be encouraging about that article is the tone and wording – an “extraordinary” shift that has raised hopes that deaths can be kept low without lockdowns. – for example. It’s presenting these things as dramatic, unexpected revelations (the word “extraordinary” appears twice) which implies to me at least a possibility that there might be plans to change the official narrative based on these new “discoveries”. (though most of it has been evident for the last few months, for anyone who actually bothered to look)
Obviously this raises the possibility/likelihood that “they” will get away with all their mistakes, lies and outright tyranny, at least in the short term – but to be honest I’m so worn down by this situation that I’ll take any hope of a way out, much as I’d like to see most of the Cabinet and SAGE in court and out of a job!
I subscribe. The article is a little confused and clearly struggles with CFR and IFR for example, but the tone is positive, certainly.
Offlands, any ‘news’ or info from he-on-Patreon-who-must-not-be-named-onhere?
The Times staying on message, Johnsons call to get back to work.
As per Jeremy Warner, do away with masks and all the “safety measures “ and I’ll go back to work.
And I’ll go shopping.
me too – I promise!!
Shop til you drop.
I’d go back to the office if it was back to normal. But at present there’s just no incentive. I freelance in a large office block in a greater London suburb. What upsets me most is that there is a canteen on site, some of the staff of which have worked there for more than 20 years. They must now all be out of a job. It’s heartbreaking. While antisocial distancing measures remain in offices, the entire sector cannot function.
Same with the arts. It’s all very well galleries, museums and theatres trying to tempt me back. But where is the pleasure in visiting any of these places in a muzzle?
And don’t forget the hassle of pre-booking each and every museum or art gallery you want to visit. Why would you want to go through that rigmarole?
It’s OK if its an exhibition especially blockbuster ones like the V&A’s Dior exhibition last year. But not to see the permanent collection.
The “virus” shifts to the young? Even if it does (and even if it is real), so what? It’s got nothing to do with the fact that they created the Covid-19 death toll by withdrawing death pathway treatment from tens of thousands.
Covid-19: utterly false perception of great danger created by letting some old and ill people die
Repost from yesterdays page …. From the BBC
Coronavirus: Tests ‘could be picking up dead virus’
Yes .. it is true ,, BBC actually doubting the veracity of the tests. Earlier we were all joking about how long it would be until the page was taken down and the author led into the street and thoroughly whipped.
This article has made me so happy. It’s happening, finally we are accelerating towards the meeja telling the truth.
The criminal politicians will likely start rolling back measures very soon in an attempt to synchronise with the meeja. If they continue pushing the oppression while stories like this come out, they risk an enormous backlash.
Carl Heneghan needs to be knighted after this finishes
Yes he does. And no, he won’t be 🙁
So hope you’re right
On the front line every week or two I will receive an alert from local public health about a care worker at one or other local care home having a positive PCR test. Most local care homes had Covid in April courtesy of the NHS discharging patients from the local DGH. After this e mail alert there is silence. Nothing.
The PCR test is picking up the dying embers from April . These people are not symptomatic as they are having frequent testing of all care home workers. If the PCR test had never been invented we would have said the epidemic seems to have passed months ago and life would be normal by now not ” new normal” .
How long this collective insanity will last for is unclear , but surely it must end soon ?
Sending out weekly alerts is another example of wasting taxpayer’s monies.
I hope you are right. I feel that Matt Hancock talking about testing *everyone* regularly will have woken a lot of people up to where this is all headed and the ‘bigger agenda’ of control…
Or maybe he’s just a clown who doesn’t know what he’s doing.
You give him far too much credit!
You’re right he doesn’t know what he is doing but the words he speaks are given to him by people who do. Funny how there isn’t a single MP standing up to be counted. You’ve got to wonder what they have on most of them.
BBC doubting the official narrative?
Was it a spoof page they misdirected you to?
Or their new boss having an affect on the editors and directors and producers as they know which way the wind is starting to blow.
there was also a page on the risk of lots of animal extinctions in coming years and they did not mention global warming . . Strange days indeed !!!
I just looked and it seems they’ve completely buried it somewhere in the entrails of their website.
No, it’s actually number 6 of “most read “!
How did this new boss sneak in there? We need more like him sneaking in Woke places.
That story is front-page news on https://www.bbc.co.uk/ and top trending article on Apple News feed. Maybe there is hope that the tide will eventually turn.
Prof Heneghan seems to be having some success at getting through to the MSM.
Heneghan is a go to person on the BBC. It’s an insurance policy for the BBC when the tide turns
Is it still there yet ?
Wow, a glimmer of hope for the terrified sheeple who get all their info from the beeb.
Seems to be more articles and videos appearing like this:

About time!
Re the Telegraph article on Sweden that Toby linked to, there are a lot of uniformed negative comments, but this was a good one:
‘5835 deaths is awful.
Then you read more, and you start to wonder is it that bad? Let’s look at last year, because the statistics for last year are easy to get for Sweden. https://www.statista.com/statistics/528942/sweden-number-of-deaths-by-cause-of-death/
Last year 88,766 deaths in Sweden so Covid would represent 6.5% of all deaths. Which again seems huge but again should we worry about such a huge number?
My answer to that is not really.
Last year they had 6154 death from respiratory illnesses. Which unless my maths is wrong is more than 5835 from Covid which would be a respiratory illness.
On top of that its numbers are 1/10 the combined heart attack and cancer numbers for Sweden.
So I question looking at those bare facts, is Covid’s death rate truly so awful in Sweden?’
Sweden also had ‘dry tinder’ in the form of lower than normal overall mortality compared to its neighbours for quite a few years, see AEIR article on that.
That alone could explain the real difference in Covid death rates when making that comparison.
With regard to comparing its death rate to all other countries, in particular the completely mismanaged UK, it’s really a no contest: no excess suicide, cancer, cardio deaths or domestic abuses, no mental health crisis due to lockdown etc. responses, no government debt explosion, no robbing of younger peoples educations and futures etc..
Also no guilty part in killing millions of people in the third world through our lockdowns.
And all that’s before one is putting any price or value on civil rights and on freedom.
I quite liked the dry tinder analogy… but can you imagine how scathing some pro-lockdown people would be if they heard that ha.
It is an excellent analogy—or at least image/metaphor.
Of course the sanctimonious will immediately fasten on it, to accuse the reality-oriented of measureless cruelty, hardheartedness, and not caring about the elderly.
I know – I live in Sweden! Of the 5835 people who have died here, 1518 were over the age of NINETY, so well beyond average life expectancy. These people could have died at any time, virus or no virus..
Cutting up his mask on air – inspirational!
So what’s happening with Australia? We know they had a second wave and are in the middle of a brutal lockdown. It was a difficult call whether the epidemic would make it through the bottleneck of the lockdown or not. My guess was not due to winter, lockdown fatigue, and a slightly higher starting point than the previous time.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/australia
According to “Daily New Cases” it looks like they are “succeeding” and the second wave peaked on 5 Aug. But it doesn’t look like deaths peaked a week ago like they should have.
Are they lying about the number of positive tests, or people aren’t getting tested, or perhaps deaths are about to peak and people are just taking a bit long to die?
I would think they never really had a first wave… and surely with the lockdown it will take much longer now to reach a peak?
As Australia is significantly closer to the equator I would expect there not to be a peak as we experienced but a flatter curve lasting longer according to Hop-Simpson in his book “The transmission of influenza”. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4yda40j4hf9nbad/11th%20The%20Transmission%20of%20Influenza%20BOOK.pdf?dl=0
I think there is another factor to build into the mix. Coronaviruses in the northern hemisphere typically peak Jan to March.
It is not unreasonable to assume in the Southern Hemisphere the peak would be July to September. So though there may have been a small peak in April, it wasn’t prime corona time. Now it is.
Plus it would be interesting to see WHO the cases and deaths were in in April vs now. If the cases were in younger people back in March/April and they managed to keep older populations isolated, you would expect to see fewer deaths.
That, because of whatever reason, may have shifted and older people may be more exposed now.
I think it’s going to be a bit of a double whammy if they get it in the winter. Plenty of places did have their epidemics in the summer (Romania, Florida) and they were much bigger than Australia’s small first outbreak. They certainly did suppress it (though at a great cost).
Yes they never had the epidemic and managed to suppress it. And then when it inevitably broke out again, they tried again, but from a higher starting point.
Maybe “first wave”/”second wave” is not good terminology as it has become a bit politically loaded.
They have already failed in the sense that they have done far more harm with the lockdown than the virus ever would have done. Although I don’t wish a death from Covid-19 on anyone perhaps it is better that they fail comprehensively even by their own standards and the world learns a lesson from it.
400+ deaths, $A300billion cost to their economy.
Carrie, I would agree with you there. Every state and territory has its own lockdown restrictions with Victoria reimposing another 6 months state of emergency. To say it’s a nightmare just doesn’t cover it. I can’t bear to look at or hear that man. The number of daily deaths announced each day doesn’t make sense and certainly would indicate to anyone with half a brain that the mandatory wearing of masks is useless and doesn’t work. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/stats-nsw.aspx This shows the latest stats in NSW. No recent deaths to speak of. Only 5 positive cases in 30,000 odd tests. I really don’t think there will be a peak. Our premier Gladys, warned us the other day to keep worrying. The people who are getting tested have a sniffle and a sore throat but are not desperately ill. With summer coming I really think it will fizzle out. The sooner lockdowns are lifted Australia wide the better. Unfortunately each premier seems drunk with power and the prime minister has been completely ineffectual in making any of them see sense in opening their state borders. On top of that today in sydney, there were protests against the lockdown and because there were more… Read more »
Lockdown early, lockdown often
Those two big spikes in the last week were mostly deaths from earlier on. The Victorian government went back through nursing home records and “found” about 70 more deaths dating back to July and August. Deaths probably are tailing off.
Heaven knows what will happen when cases build again, as they probably will.
That explains it thanks. What will probably happen is things will go quiet for about three weeks to a month and then it will get going again. It’s going to be an ongoing nightmare. Would be so much better for them to just get it over with.
They didn’t really have a 1st wave since it was summer there at the time.
They did suppress it. Summer on its own isn’t enough to stop it although it helps.
Did they?
They got to about 8 deaths a day in April. That’s a considerable number of infections (about 8000, three weeks before). If unchecked that would have been more than enough to burn through the country in the space of a couple of months, even in summer.
It’s also worth remembering that the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.
As for “second wave” they didn’t even have a first did they?
Skynews Oxford crim.., sorry, academic was just asked why in the third world hasn’t there been an overwhelming death surge forward-slash sky rocket of doom, they have no health care after all?
The oxford academic was taken aback, then spun for all shes’s worth. Highly and determinedly not answering the question. Not even close. Sky questioner was quite happy to let the spin be spun. Seemingly they just need to get PPE and vaccine into country.
Ellen Less Than Impressive is the only name I caught. UK aid is being used to send PPE to Jordan and Nigeria.
HCQ. HCQ. HCQ. Eh, Ellen?
Or even having g a younger demographic. Or BCG vaccinations.
Younger demographic would definitely make a difference..
Yes. Of course in terms of death.
But cases? Every country would be bulging with these dreaded cases. They are not. Regardless of age cases ought to be hugely high, showing fewer deaths per capita that elderly populations.
Yes of course they are not testing because there, they have no health care system (Jordan?).
However, they do somehow ‘know’ there’s a massive issue in country. At least know enough that millions of pounds worth of PPE needs shipping. Millions of pounds worth for a population of 200 million (Nigeria) is not going to stretch very far.
Been thinking about this. The ACE2 binding theory for CV-19 might also play a part. Is medication for things like diabetes and hypertension used widely in such areas? Maybe the ground isn’t as fertile for the virus to multiply among these populations?
https://elemental.medium.com/a-supercomputer-analyzed-covid-19-and-an-interesting-new-theory-has-emerged-31cb8eba9d63
Thanks for the link. I would guess there is little to no medication being widely used. HCQ has been well used in Nigeria. They only spoke about Nigeria and Jordan but implied further afield. Might HCQ add to the not fertile theory? We are still told ethinic minorities in UK are at more risk.
The response to put PPE into action appears to be purely optics. The question about why India, Pakistan and so on have not seen a wild fire needs answering. Thanks Bop keep thinking.
Over-the-counter HCQ is generally available in tropical countries.
Interesting, thanks!
Note, though vitamin D sneaks in, there’s no mention of HCQ
Most people do not need any medicine for covid19.
So 300 billion UK made face nappies for Nigeria, the lucky lucky people.
There are a couple of interesting articles on Principia-Scientific.
The first is a template letter with a summary of the non pandemic nature of the Covid farce. It is very long for a letter, but is a very thorough summary. I have not read it in detail, but it seems to cover the ground very well.

I am not surprised that Sunetra Gupta is having problems finding a publisher for her research that runs against the “consensus”, this has been happening for years in climate research.
There is one university that has been operating entirely by distance learning for the past 50 years quite successfully, and that is the Open University, so the argument that students must have face to face tuition is not that strong.
Agree completely on the Gupta point – see my conversation yesterday with Basics regarding Mr TT’s experience in the field in the early 2000s, when the ‘science is settled’ narrative was established to silence ‘dissenters’ like him and others.
As to the Open University, while it is true that it has developed a very successful platform for online learning such that other universities following the strategy ought to consider whether or not they have a genuine right to exist, it is not the case that teaching is entirely at distance. Open University supports a system of tutors and facilitators in regional centres, and in many of the subjects, students attend campus for block weeks.
I am very much in favour of face-to-face tuition from both a user (Oxbridge) and practitioner perspective, for all level of study up to Masters levels.
Your primer yesterday was very helpful reading todays news!
Thanks. She has already been on the receiving end of offhand comments made by Neil Ferguson and Mark Walport in early interviews and select committee hearings (March or April). This is part of the modus operandi – my husband was subjected to public humiliation at academic conferences.
OU students do have f2f tuition – or used to. When I was a tutor there were fortnightly tutorials in my subject, held at venues as convenient as possible for local students. One-to-one tuition could also be arranged, for an additional fee.
Sadly, when I retired a couple of years ago the OU was already pushing for all tuition to be online (in a horrible, clunky virtual classroom), and the chance of restoring real tutorials after the end of the present bollox is almost certainly nil.
Students who turned up for real tuition showed far greater improvement over the course than those who didn’t, in my experience.
I concur Annie. Small group activity is the better way, in my experience, to ensure everyone is keeping up (and turning up!).
Uni staff tell me that lectures will be online, tutorials and seminars Socially Distanced in lecture theatres, any thoughts Annie ?
I got my OU degree in 2015 and the reason that I didn’t continue studying with them is because of the changes they were making to the courses; that is, all study material would be online, instead of the books and DVDs. Plus, of course, the huge increase in fees!
I definitely agree with your last point – those who always came to the tutorials seemed to do much better than those who didn’t. Possibly because talking together in a room is especially helpful for language courses.
It so happens that I disagree with Professor Gupta’s premise that there are three different forms of the virus, but I would defend her right to publish them. They are clearly legitimate scientific statements capable of being verified or falsified by experiment or observation. I’m rather more concerned about Prof, Gomes since her work is about modelling. The heterogeneity premise is not only uncontroversial, it is quite obviously true by observation of the real world and the only question is how to model it. Indeed, the agent-based models used by Prof Ferguson et al are the epitome of heterogeneity. The observation that in population-level modelling, heterogeneity makes an huge difference to herd immunity levels was a little surprising but I verified it for myself on a toy SIR model.
Quoting Richard:
“It so happens that I disagree with Professor Gupta’s premise that there are three different forms of the virus, but I would defend her right to publish them.”
Richard, your opinion would have more clout if you explained why your opinion should be trusted above Professor Gupta’s.
I made and make no such claim. I simply made it clear that I support her right to publish her work independently of whether or not I happen to agree with it.
According to Dolores Cahill and others, there are at least 30 known variants of the coronavirus and they have been around for at least 50 years.
I was referring, of course, to “the virus”, SARS-Cov-2. In an interview reported on the UnHerd site, Prof. Gupta postulates a broad level of immunity caused by an early mass exposure to an asymptomatic form of the disease resulting in immunity not detectable by current antibody tests. This leads to an estimate of IFR well below 1%: she proposes “definitely less than 1 in 1000 and probably closer to 1 in 10,000”. That’s not consistent with experience in New York City, where the death rate is 0.25% of population as a whole, giving a lower limit on IFR, even assuming 100% infection. She quite properly acknowledges that, and postulates a third form of the disease in very dense urban settings.
I think that one has to be cautious about postulating not one but two new forms of the disease: Occam’s Razor suggests otherwise. But these are clearly scientific postulates: scientific in the sense that they are testable by experiment or observation. They are reasonably parsimonious, and reasonably consistent with current observations. Whether or not they are correct is another matter.
The main argument against the university policies is that the students will miss out on the important social aspects of uni life. Worse, if they are imprisoned in their rooms, as is already happening in the US, they will have less social contact than non-students. The psychological effects don’t bear thinking about!
The OU works mainly for mature students, many of whom have full-time jobs and families.
Two quick points. BBC – unlike foreign outlets – has yet to mention any demo in Melbourne (main story from Down Under is a row about the aboriginal flag). I remain unclear as to how many protesters turned out, but given that Victoria is being run by the CCP, any turning out is a miracle.
My second point relates to the Scottish school attendance data from earlier in the week. Toby’s take was that the 84% attendance rate was due to the bedwetters. My view is different. The BBC published a bar chart showing that attendance was at a high when Scottish schools re-opened on August 17th and have declined every single day subsequently.. This suggests to me that maybe kids are complaining to mums and dads about the new abnormal.
I made that point on one of the previous days this subject came up. Having seen some of the disgusting stories about how some children were being treated it should be no surprise that parents decided to keep them home.
There’s been a rampant head cold bug in the Glasgow area. My school age kids have both been off.
there’s one in Fife also. My son and half his class mates have the cold. It’s a mystery how he caught it since they all have to wear masks and wash their hands in the cancer causing gel. It’s almost like masks don’t work.
Keep complaining kids. Stand up for your rights.
A video here showing the same violent police action as above, with a preamble of very reasoned comment. In addition the video includes a second interaction by British Transport Police against a British Transport worker.

“…causing one lad to rip off the mask and surprisingly deposit it in a nearby bin instead of tossing it in the gutter alongside other discarded masks. ”
A well mannered and intelligent lad, more such stories please!
A small demonstration in Melbourne has been broken up by storm-trooping Police.

Brave people standing on the side of humanity. Police in masks without markings, unidentifiable. Even the 8(?) Police horses look rightfully ashamed.
Brand Australia is dying. Will anyone want to visit such a viscious country in the future?
Brave people showing that the key is to find strength in numbers. It is easy for a group of police to gang up on a pregnant lady or a man on his own. They are a little more reserved when facing a crowd.
I salute those protesting Aussies
Keep on pushing, straight ahead!
SS in Australia. Lovely.
Testing in airports just supports the idea that tests are useful, which they aren’t and that this coronavirus is an exceptional threat, which it isn’t.
Boris Johnson is right on this one. The last thing we want are more draconian measures that will later be near impossible to roll back.
Tests for illegal drugs in your system will be rolled into COVID tests at travel hubs. That’s a certainty. How do you fancy that?
Remember that spliff you had on the beach last night before you caught the plane? It seems like so long ago it’s hard to remember your old life back home as you sit out your 12 year sentence in some hell-hole local jail….
Yer lets have testing for covid at airports…great idea.
I don’t think possessing illegal drugs in your bloodstream is itself illegal(I am no expert could be wrong here) so as long as your not planning to fly the plane I am not sure what they would gain under the current laws.
Of course they could change the laws and certainly if we accept arbitrary testing at huge cost to the taxpayer then the list of tests we are expected to submit to is only going to grow.
Don’t do illegal drugs, they spoil the booze.
Exactly, this will give endless opportunities for ‘mission creep’…
It would make more sense to test for flu.
And it doesn’t make any sense to test for flu.
Calling for testing at airports now somewhat undermines the wider point this site is making, in my view. The government are right, at this point it would create a false sense of security, be very costly, and achieve nothing.
Boris Johnson is right on something? Oh well, even a broken clock will give the correct time twice a day…
Thoughts on Covid-19: The Great Reset, by Klaus Schwab and Thierry MalleretA few weeks after the World Economic Forum launched their ‘Great Reset‘ initiative, it was followed up with the release of a new book titled, ‘Covid-19: The Great Reset‘, authored by the executive chairman of the WEF, Klaus Schwab, and Senior Director of the Global Risk Network at the institution, Thierry Malleret.
https://stevenguinness2.wordpress.com/2020/09/03/thoughts-on-covid-19-the-great-reset-by-klaus-schwab-and-thierry-malleret/
Of course, WEF were sponsors of Event201, the great simulation.
So there is a global coup by these unelected “thinkers” meanwhile trade is destroyed, mass unemployment and homeless are created, citizens are set against one another in unprecedented ways. I am sure they are pleased with themselves!
Those unfortunate people will be the ones most likely to look to the government for salvation, all part of the plan probably
Mark Windows covered that book and Mr Schwab in one of his shows recently:
https://www.spreaker.com/user/markwindows/rats-that-rule-the-world
Well worth a listen.
People who think it’s all a cock-up by nappy-head BOJO and Twatt Handicock won’t like this one bit.
And I’m sure this was all thought up after the initial outbreak in Wuhan, which led to some hearty prophecising by these warm and caring folks who know what’s best for all of us.
I think it was already planned and they were just waiting for a suitable opportunity.
It was probably always planned for 2020 – the date 2020 always loomed large in WHO/industry plans.
Ask them to show us some proof.
who are these people and why the hell should we listen to them?
I believe the term these days is “thought leaders”. Says it all really.
Postcard from Dumfries. “No social distancing for these kids – bless ’em” Yesterday ConstantBees compared the total abandonment of Social Distancing during registration at the local 6th form college* with the Conformity she witnessed at Bournemouth University. The older teenagers registering at The College will have been in friends groups that have known each other for years. They will have been knocking around with each other during lockdown, furtive at first but then more openly with not much to do except complain what a downer lockdown is. Besides their friends they will know everybody else in their school yeargroup and plenty from other city schools so lots of mutual support. Over half of The College intake come from surrounding (crap) towns and the idea of arriving in the Big City acting like Pussies would be unthinkable. 1st year students arriving at Uni will overwhelmingly be singletons whose schooling ended abruptly, their friendship groups are scattered far and wide. Being totally alone in their new environment Conformity might well seem the best strategy. * I did not see any staff attempting to marshall the College students into any form of SD, probably realising they would be on a loser if they… Read more »

This is a link to a report someone has produced. Perhaps people might want to add their signatures. Perhaps see what you think. I am not sure I agreed with all of it but it is another challenge and perhaps the more challenges the better.
In the video of the fella on the train it looked near the end like a member of the public AKA mask vigilante getting involved and also manhandling him, I hope any court case also involves charges against him then maybe mask vigilantes will start to mind their business or risk being charged
I hope there is crowdfunding for any legal help this man needs. I will certainly donate to it. As an exempt person myself, the last thing I want is for some thug to threaten me and then drag me off transport. I’m only using buses now, but I was thinking about using the train for a short break. Had mixed feelings anyway, but this was the last straw. I’ll not pay money for the privilege of being assaulted.
Yes I want to chip in too. Solidarity.
And me.
Todays summary already states that Toby/Will have approached the victim. Additionally on yesterdays comments it was noted that Simon Dolan has already been in contact (the BTP twitter outlined the details (sorry .. their details) of the incident and included the victims details. He has been charged with assault (probably bruised the policeman’s knuckles with his chin). Note he wasnt charged with resisting arrest as there was no arrestable offence until the police decided it was assault.
Constable Savage lives (for coloured read Sceptic)
ps.. Just seen a posting below which links to this you tube expose of this incident and another similar one… so posting again as relevant here , This could be an interesting channel to monitor
Charged with assault, but nothing regarding the non-mask-wearing? If they had accepted his exemption then no assault would have taken place…
Simon Dolan has offered legal support.
Toby mentions reaching out to him via Free Speach Union, that could be an avenue to help financially.
Unfortunately this was always going to happen. The masks are a social engineering tool to validate you comply. The shaming and outright attacks was something they knew would be a consequence of it.
Question. Have any countries introduced and then reveresed the mandatory masks? Just curious as this seems like the sort of thing that once its brought in it sticks around
Fighting in the shopping aisles never caught on so perhaps they are deliberately sending in the goons. The chap being assaulted was remarkably restrained, doing little more than refusing to be pulled out of his seat. I expect they were hoping for a right old punch up.
Man with small rusksack? Plain clothed police I suspect.
In Ireland, we don’t have a transport police but there are regular calls for one to be established. I have always been against such a force and cite the BTP as an example of why not to have one. This video validates my concerns.
Me and my mate got arrested and cautioned by BTP for attempting to board a moving train. That was back in the old days.

We do in Montreal. Nasty bunch too.
Or should I say Nazi bunch?
The member of the public also attempted a choke hold on the guy.
Wow. Talk about divide and conquer.
That man was vicious. Getting his jollies. Psychotic bully!
Our correspondent in Dumfries should consider himself lucky to have found a bench to sit down on and watch the world go by.
Yesterday I picked my mum and dad up from the local shopping centre. Dad was very despondent, they’ve removed all the benches. Now there is nowhere to have a quick sit down when out and about in our town.
Previously they were taped off at various points to ensure social distancing. I’m guessing that didn’t work out as planned.
Why are the powers that be so determined to make life for the elderly so darn miserable?
In other news my daughter has been chatting to me about her first week back at school.
One of her classmates turned 6 yesterday. They weren’t allowed to sing Happy Birthday.
They had to whisper it instead.
Sigh.
I know the feeling!
Taped off benches? What are we doing to ourselves. God help us
Thought that came to an end months ago, they even gave us ‘permission’ to use benches for picnics.
Beyond pathetic. Her class teacher must feel do proud.
Thing is they have been quite sane up until now. We have escaped staggered drop offs and complicated one way systems. Although I do have to dock them points for suggesting that parents may wish to wear masks at pick up nudge, nudge (roundly ignored by all).
I guess “Happy Birthday” was just a bridge too far.
Idiots with too much power in charge at that school.
In all my years as a parent and visiting schools i have met one Primary school teacher and one high school teacher i had confidence in, the rest of them were utter morons. They all lie and pretend they care about your child but they don’t give a shit, they care about their pay, holidays and pension, your child doesn’t factor for a second. Did i mention how up their own arses. they all are
Nearly all benches have been removed from our own centre and have all been removed from our two small shopping centres. As someone with RA, it is very hard not being able to rest. As for the elderly…well I’ve noticed fewer and fewer are out and about…Our town is dead. The vigorous proponents of the face nap are out in force but everyone else is staying away or only doing vital shopping and leaving. Cafes and pubs are clinging on, mostly empty, but as I refuse to give my personal details, in most I’m refused entry. Sod them, their loss. Fed up with it all, I’m just not joining in or complying.
Probably for the best since how can you have a happy birthday with this insanity all around
We are considering a 6-7 days holiday in Portugal next week. We understand the chances of it not happening, but I’m writing this because I’d like to know what the experience is like in the airport, on the plane and being in Portugal (if anyone has recently been).
I have not been muzzled once in the UK and I’d prefer to keep up my record. Is this possible in a UK airport? What can I do to prevent being muzzled? Same as in a Portuguese airport – my Portuguese is awful and whilst I don’t use an exemption card in the UK, I’d be prepared to create one for Portugal. Would this work?
What’s the situation like on a plane?
Finally, I have read about “mandatory” masks whilst walking around shops and restaurants in Portugal, but can this also be avoided? Or will I end up in prison?
Thanks in advance 🙂
Clients just got back from Portugal and said compliance was very high and quiet a lot of police presence. They are desperate to keep off quarantine list so are showing force. Other clients just returned from quiet Greek island and said felt largely normal, locals just happy to see them. Both sets wore masks for travel I am afraid though so cannot comment on that. I would opt for smaller Greek Island personally. Happy to help with the booking if you would like. Have my own travel business and can book the likes of Jet2, EasyJet hols etc. but also some excellent specialist operators you may not have heard of.
Very useful information, thank you. I’ll take a look at the islands and see if they’re an option for us and might get back in touch.
A lovely company we work with has great prices at the moment:

Small, family owned business. I have worked with them for over a decade and highly recommend them. I can knock a little off their prices for any LS
i’m flying to greece tomorrow with BA for a bit or R&R – dreading the airport and plane experience with masks etc but will wear one to avoid the hassle and stares etc especially on my own – will try to wear a scarf thing instead which is more bearable! I’m going to have to just ‘suck it up’ as they say, take a deep breathe and imagine being on the beach in a few hours!
Good luck!
I wore an exemption lanyard through Heathrow twice in July and had no problems at all. I was the only person in the entire terminal without a mask, as far as I could see. Similarly, on the outward BA flight to Iceland, and my return flight on Icelandair, I was treated politely and my lack of a mask was mentioned only once, by an Icelandair stewardess, who just took a look at my lanyard, smiled and moved on.
That’s positive info, thanks. I presume you made the exemption card yourself? Which design/template did you use?
See links in Toby’s main text for cards lanyards
No, I bought the Disability Horizons one on Amazon. It has a sturdy plastic holder and a bright red lanyard with ‘MASK EXEMPT’ in large white letters.
i don’t wear a mask & wear the lanyard (Sainsbury’s green & sunflowers) & hidden disabilities badge wherever I go. Train back from Inverness via Edinburgh & Newcastle last Thursday. No one said a word. Returned from France early July with Jet2. Did wear one in French airport & for part of journey (but when asleep it doesn’t seem so bad). Ripped it off as soon as got down airplane steps. Again not challenged. Just say that magic I am exempt. That stops everyone in their tracks. It is complete and utter MADNESS.
Yes Chubs keep that spotless record of no muzzling going! You are brave to take on the task of flying to another country. I’ve resigned myself to never flying again while mask mania continues unabated.
Ha! Yeah, I’m trying. Only been questioned on it twice. Once on a bus, but after a minute of discussion the driver capitulated and let me on. The other time was about an hour ago when I went to a green grocers. Some young dude asked me if I had a mask. I said I was exempt and he apologised and stood aside.
There were four staff members in the shop and none were wearing masks. Two were behind their protective, plastic blast shields. All staff members donned their safety blankets once I had entered. I can only assume that they erroneously believe that masks protect themselves from me… the asymptomatic leper. Sad.
I’m a bit annoyed I didn’t inform them of the the government’s guidelines which say they only “protect” other people from the muzzle wearers. But had just been for a run and was on my way home. Next time.
I too was at the Lewes KBF meeting talked about in the main body of this edition of lockdownsceptics. Personally I didn’t find the same degree of anarchy. It’s a very new group, multiplying ‘virally’ as the chairman joked, and they are feeling their way towards organisation. There was no existing database of emails, phone numbers, etc that an established group might have. This was started. Likewise the agenda was very loose and more intended to just get people talking and that succeeded with a lot of views that were from every end of the spectrum. I’m not a total conspiracist, but am damn certain that just being rich doesn’t make Gates a good man, and the whole virus scam will only work if several detrimental things happen to our liberties. On the whole, and especially with the frightening contribution of a (now suspended) teacher, the meeting pushed a few of the right buttons. Playing nicely ain’t going to be enough, folks.
Please could you elaborate on the views put forward by said (suspended) teacher?
And what was he suspended for, if relevant.

Gates didn’t get rich by being a good man. Most billionaires don’t.

Lots of earthquakes and a typhoon though.
Did not realise such a website existed! Thank you.
Surprised the round up didn’t mention Mark Dolan cutting up the mask on talk radio or Denise Welch on good morning Britain .Much rather if we kept to just lockdown topics and didn’t veer off into nonsense about Adele’s bantu hairstyle ,like in the Wokeness cult of purity article by Patrick West . Anyway hope the guy on the train gets all the help he needs.
Yep, these 2 moments on the mainstream media (if you consider Talk Radio mainstream?) were great!
There is more and more dissent at the lockdown by regular folk, but we still have far to go
Is it not odd that the commissioning editor at the Spectator (Mary Wakefield) which recently commissioned the important article by Heneghan and Jefferson is married to Dominic Cummings? Why is it their important message is not being heard in the corridors of power? It surely can’t be through ignorance of it. Why do we go on and on and on down this pointless road?
why does the commissioning editor at the spectator use a different surname to her husband dominic cummings?
Because that’s her name. This seems highly obvious.
always good when the children’s parents have two different names isn’t it, just makes the mother look like a whore
because some of us men are firing blanks. If you marry a woman and she don’t take your name then there is no point whatsoever in marrying her. There is no point anyway, these days, unless you can find a real woman, most of them are vacuous creatures slapped in face paint and credit cards. They let themselves down, their families, their children and society. Women need to remember that men let them behave like this and we could change our mind in a second and they’d be nothing the little dolls could do to stop it. I think a lot of them believe in this strong fierce woman bullshit pumped out by the media whores.
So Sunetra Gupta ha sonly just realised that anti the favoured narrative scientists and studies and research do not get published, funded etc?
What too her so long to realise this?
All she has to do is ask anyone who has questioned the official narrative on global warming or whatever it is called this week, CO2 reduction being good, saturated fat in diets, vaccines, the best way to lose weight, effects of tablets etc on children’s developing brains and so on.
They will soon give her an honest answer on what happens to them and their research,
Irish parents… it doesn’t matter where you stand on the question of vaccinations but you need to watch this video from Tracey O’Mahony if you have any concerns about your child being vaccinated against your will whilst at school. The HSE National Consent Policy (document available via Tracey’s post) outlines that “mature” minors – a minor is a child under 16 years – may consent to medical interventions without parent or guardian consent where the child is considered by the health care provider to have sufficient understanding and intelligence to enable that child to understand what is being proposed. This extends to all minors under 16 years, including those diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. You can see where this is headed, can’t you? School environments, where children are away from their parents, will be a natural place to undertake vaccine administration en mass, all without parent supervision. This must not be allowed to happen so please everyone, if you know any Irish families with small children then forward the link to Tracey’s video. Tracey offers a solution to this, nevertheless Ireland needs awakening to this imminent threat. Time is not on our side as the first of what will be many… Read more »
In UK it is normal for girls to have the HPV vaccine done at school. I remember having my BCG done at school when i was a lad . So the opportunity is there
HPV Deaths Hidden by Bad Science
Medical Researchers Caught Manipulating Data
Medical researchers have accused drug regulators and manufacturers of concealing the real dangers of the HPV vaccine. Many girls have suffered life-threatening injuries as the result of the vaccine. The HPV vaccine has also caused death. However, the claims have been dismissed by the vaccine manufacturer. The drug regulators have also been accused of adding aluminum to the placebo in order to manipulate scientific data.

This is the ‘Gillick competent’ judgment, isn’t it? However I fail to see how those ‘diagnosed with intellectual disabilities’ can be deemed Gillick competent..
In school kids will come under influence of school staff *and* peer pressure to agree to any vaccines… so this is NOT ok…
My sons last year in primary school a couple of years ago was the only child in his class not to get the flu vaccination. I think they blew something up the kids nose. They are very sick sinister people involved in “health care”

Re. the guy on the train, the human rights expert says
In the first instance, the police should have questioned the individual further about his medical condition and reasons for not wearing a mask.”
Really? Ask a person for a summary of their medical history on a train in front of other people? My interpretation of this mask business is that, unfortunately for the authoritarians among us, a person cannot be compelled to wear a mask if they have any medical reason not to, and a person cannot be asked about their confidential medical history even by an ’emanation of the state’, and nor can they be compelled to wear a
yellow starbadge indicating they’re a ‘medical case’. To me, this seems obvious from the fact that these provisions have, reluctantly, been allowed by the government. Unfortunately for them, a person can refuse to wear a mask, and does not have to give any reason for doing so.I think the human rights person above has got it wrong.
Yes, they have. I think ‘considers’ in para 2 below is a bit dodgy, but para 7 makes up for it. And, as we know, there is no requirement to explain or prove your exemption. It should have ended when the passenger said “I am exempt”.
(2) Where a relevant person considers that a person is not wearing a face covering, in contravention of the requirement in regulation 3, the relevant person may—
(a)direct that person to wear such a covering;
(b)direct that person to disembark from the relevant vehicle.
…
(7) A person may only exercise a power in paragraph (2) or (3) if they consider it necessary and proportionate to ensure compliance with the requirement in regulation 3.
I agree. My understanding sofar was that in the UK, this question would only ever be permissible and only ever needed to be answered in court. I Germany, you need to have a medical certificate. It costs 10€, it requires a physical appointment but is then relatively easy to ge, though most people entiled refrain from trying to obtain it anyway, as they prefer to suffer and join the virtue signallers, and/or are afraid of being intimidated by the zealous mob. Some non-essential businesses, like Ikea, MediaMarkt, McDonalds or Lufthansa can and have decided to set their own, stricter rules (test, perspex screen instead), but really essential ones like supermarkets or gas stations aren’t and won’t ever be allowed to do that, for obvious and good reasons (Daseinsfuersorgeverpflichtung). And even there and then, the police or shopkeeper must accept just your statement that you are in general possession of that medical certificate granting you the exemption, if you say so- most have refrained from asking for that, as even that seems illegal. You don’t need to carry it with you, they don’t have a right to see it, let alone to ask you for your condition, or qustion the judgement… Read more »
What the hell is a human rights expert?
Obviously someone who doesn’t know the law about mask examption.
Sir Keir Starmet is one. Could have fooled me.
I thought so too!
I would love to see this tested in court. It’s one of the oddest pieces of law I’ve ever seen. I don’t go anywhere that requires a mask, but if I did I would be tempted to claim the “severe distress” exemption if pressed by a court. My problem with this is that I am pretty sure that it’s not what the people who drafted it intended, but maybe I should not think about what they intended. Who can say? Just the thought of it causes me severe distress, but almost everything about this nonsense causes me that.
And severe distress leads to stress and other debilitating effects.
“A court in Lyon ruled on Friday that making face masks mandatory in all public spaces in Lyon and neighbouring Villeurbanne constituted a “serious and illegal infringement” of citizens’ liberties.”

And it will likely ensure rising case counts, as a mask will turn a sofar little infected and non-infectious wearer into a more heavily infected and infectious time-bomb over time.
Particularly so, if the mask is worn for hours at the workplace, as stupidly mandated in France now.
Tsunami if bronchial pulmonary problems coming our way.

Why did a test kit for this “new” coronavirus, that supposedly was only discovered late last year, appear on the world Bank trade tariffs website list in 2018.
https://wits.worldbank.org/trade/comtrade/en/country/ALL/year/2018/tradeflow/Exports/partner/WLD/nomen/h5/product/902780
Which means it could have been made and approved in 2017🧐
It is filed under a 2017 code
“ HS Nomenclature used HS 2017
HS Code 902780: COVID-19 Diagnostic Test instruments and apparatus”
WTF!? Is this for real?
Yes it appears so…..I’m happy to accept any evidence to believe otherwise if anyone can come up with an excuse not to believe it!
https://www.bitchute.com/video/CR33edqgRHUQ/
It looks like fairly generic test kits were bought by some countries in anticipation of a problem with a coronavirus appearing in 2019 (the 19 only denotes the year). The table shows that none were exported to the UK. The test kits allow samples to be gathered ready for testing – no specific knowledge of the anticipated virus would be needed. I know it looks suspicious, but likely a manufacturer seeing an opportunity to cash in on nervous governments. Singapore, China and Hong Kong look like being by far the biggest customers, which would make sense given previous experiences in that part of the world.
I agree these are possibly generic kits re-named but the name COVID-19 was surely not formulated until February or March this year.
That’s the point. You either you believe this “deadly virus” is “new” or beleive what’s written on the world bank website for import tariffs from a few years ago.
Depending who you believe the “19” is either the 19th version of the strain or the year it was supposed to have been “discovered”
Anyone have a fantastic idea why the world bank was listing import tariffs codes in 2017, for a test kit for a virus, that according to our government and media is a brand new deadly virus that only was discovered in Jan 2020?
The test kits are specifically called
“ COVID-19 Diagnostic Test instruments and apparatus“
NOT a “fairy generic test kit”
These are world importing tariff codes From 2017 and figures for the 2018 year.
I think that 902780 is a code for “Instruments and apparatus for physical or chemical analysis“, so that while every Covid test kit falls under 902780, not everything that falls under 902780 is a Covid test kit.
I expect the name is coincidental. The page states “Colorimetric end tidal CO2 detector” and there is a brand “Covidien Nellcor™ Adult/Pediatric Colorimetric CO2 Detector …” so I’m guessing it relates to one of their products.
