A Lockdown Sceptics reader has written to tell us about mandatory testing that’s happening at his workplace.
Regarding the story on Durham University today and lateral flow tests, you’ll probably be aware that there’s a growing problem of mandatory testing in workplaces.
I work in an office in London and we were told this week that twice-weekly tests are mandatory to come into the office. We currently have about 10 people coming in out of a possible 200+.
To make it worse, we were originally told these tests were advisory, but now apparently they are mandatory – something to do with the firm’s “duty of care to those with hidden underlying health conditions”. The people being tested are the same people who’ve been vaccinated of course, which shows the senselessness of the whole thing. And arguably makes the testing permanent, given that having been vaccinated doesn’t absolve you of the need to get tested twice a week.
People who hadn’t taken the test this week were sent home halfway through the day, despite having reasonable objections, including having recently had the virus (and so having the antibodies that meant they could neither catch it nor pass it on), and others not being prepared to risk having to self-isolate, given individual circumstances that make that impossible. Of course, companies can do as they please – but this is all so self-defeating and driven by all the wrong instincts.
Those of us grateful to still have a job and income have to pick and choose our battles. But why is there not more of an outcry over mandatory testing? Will mandatory vaccinations be next? You could make a case for all this (I personally wouldn’t) in a care home, but not in a normal office. Many people will say it’s the price we have to pay for getting back to normal, but it’s a high price.
My own circumstances are even worse but probably not unique. I refuse to comply with any of this because my partner had a miscarriage a few months ago, caused, we believe, by having to carry something heavy in her workplace which colleagues wouldn’t help with “due to the social distancing rules”. This is the true hidden horrific cost of lockdown and the other measures. She was then made to suffer alone in hospital on multiple occasions (family not allowed in), and even the paramedics were reluctant to come to the house – for a critical emergency – without ascertaining her Covid status. The cruelty of lockdown and the restrictions is my biggest bugbear, quite aside from its efficacy.
If other readers have stories about mandatory testing in their workplace, do email them to us here (saying whether you’re happy for us to publish your name).

I’m having my first test in 3 weeks time! How exciting! I need it to have an operation I’ve been waiting for for a couple of years. If it wasn’t for that they couldn’t have stuck it up their collective arses.
Same for me, Steve. My test was negative despite my never wearing a mask or washing my hands more than usual or deliberately distancing myself from others.
I had a minor op a couple weeks ago, I refused to wear a mask, I refused to be tested. I had good reasons, had my minor op.
The staff were awesome; professional, kind and compassionate. The NHS as it should be (the real NHS, not the pointless behind the scenes non-jobs….)
Flat renovations need to be funded
Apparently Grant Shapps has said that the NHS track and trace app will become the Covid passport app. What if you don’t have a smart phone? Hopefully plenty of legal challenges to this discriminatory and illegal direction.
Correction, not the Track and Trace app – despite them earmarking £37bn (billion, b) for it.
It’s the general “NHS app” used for booking appointments in England only, not Scotchland or even Wales.
This country makes me feel sick
Virtually the whole world now makes me feel sick.
It’s pretty simple, really : if you believe in mandatory testing, then you are extremely stupid, ill-informed and/or venal.
If you have any of those qualities, then you probably should not be in a decision-making position – and certainly kept well away from things involving individuals’ well-being.
To screen for underlying health conditions “duty of care to those with hidden underlying health conditions”.
So are daily sugar level tests, echo cardiograms for heart conditions etc mandatory as well?
Again, thinking from 12 till noon…
Please don’t give health fascists ideas to enable more looting of taxpayers.
Another thought.
Continual monitoring (such as experienced by those who spend a lot of time in hospital) is in itself misleading. Frequent sampling means that anomalies occur and can often take on disproportionate significance from over-interpretation.
The ‘case’ syndrome is a classic example.
Can’t come in with covid, but all with flu, tb, ebola, etc, etc are welcome in the office.
Urine samples? Now would be taking ……
Everyone opposed to all of this try to join the next massive Unity for freedom rall in central London on 29 May, with local rallies on 15 May.see standupx or white rose for more details nearer time; also films of previous.. On 24 April between half a million and a million covered a 10 mile circuit all very good humoured and peaceful, no broken windows on the whole of Oxford Street; even if ignored by MSM
Are you doing the tests at home? If so just run some drinking water from the tap on it, if it comes back positive ring the water board and tell them they have a problem.
I started a new job on Monday with a large multinational manufacturer. I’m a safety engineer so understanding and engineering risk out of products is what I’m paid to do. I’ve been doing risk assessments for high risk activities involving high-speed vehicles, firearms, explosives and extreme environments for 20 years, so I know twaddle when I see it. I read the company’s covid risk assessment and associated risk classification matrix. Notable was that the unmitigated risk scores were unchanged by the implementation of the risk control measures. I.e. Activity A scored 5; after social distancing, hand washing and face coverings, it still scored 5. This says the measures are either ineffective or unnecessary or both. What the risk assessment is, is a regurgitation of government Covid guidance slapped into the HSE risk assessment template. Were I not a new starter on 7 days notice, I’d be very tempted to tell them where it’s wrong. In addition, I remained free-faced throughout my two days on site. Any queries over my mask-free status were met with ‘I’m exempt’. This further shows that the workplace risk assessement is ineffective and un-necessary. If there were a pathogen present that required the use of a… Read more »
My employer tries to force me to get tested I’ll refuse and give them the option to let me continue to wfh indefinitely or fire me.
The worst testing programs have been for college athletes, who have to be tested at least three times a week (some four times). Even if they get the virus, they are going to be fine. No college athlete in the world (as far as I know) has died of COVID, and only a handful have had to be hospitalized.
Their tests have been standardized to a low ct under 30.
As should every test be, and that since at least 9 months.
But that would have ended the plandemic right away and made the jabs and passports obsolete and impossible.
Who is paying for all these tests? I guess it’s good that all these nations have tree that grows money somewhere in the back yard.
“Of course, companies can do as they please…”
No, they can’t.
Why not remind bosses that the PCR is not fit for purpose (showing evidence in case he/she has not read up) and demand proof that the ‘virus’ has been isolated/purified before, as a last resort offering to spit in a test tube. They can’t say you were not ‘complying’.
Virus has not been isolated.
Exactly…that’s why you would demand proof!
The only way is for all if us to tell UK Gov & “scientists” to go away and leave us alone.
How, we need marches like last Saturday to look small. One in every city (great big ones) for 3/4 weeks will send the message. Point, if we want our freedom we need to fight for it, it’s up to us.
It’s what 2 and half million of our service personnel to do in the last 100 years.
We need to do something to take our country back. No one else will.
If we don’t we’ll lose it forever.
On our own no hope, together it’s a forgone conclusion.
It’s our country, not theirs.
Lets make it ours again.
Take action now, please.
