Update on EU’s Vaccine Passport Scheme

by Toby Young
29 April 2021 6:08 PM

We have an update today on yesterday’s vote in the European Parliament, which essentially waved through the Commission’s plans to roll out a vaccine passport scheme across the EU, which we covered yesterday. This is a guest post from a source within the EU.

In Brussels yesterday the European Parliament adopted a negotiating position on the Commission’s Digital Green Certificate proposal. 575 MEPs voted for a compromise text, with 80 against and 40 abstentions.

Voting took place remotely after three hours of speeches to a mostly empty chamber.

The Commission’s desire to create a universal system of health check points within the EU was apparent before the Plenary Session. During the debate it became increasingly clear that these checks will be taking place beyond Member State borders.

MEPs were resigned to passing the Regulation in order to “return to normal” even if it “puts Schengen at stake”.

Voter concerns that European society would be divided were occasionally relayed, usually as a prefix to a bald statement that the DGC would neither discriminate nor function as a pass for entry into Member States.

A handful of MEPs asked to examine the Proposal more critically.

With Parliament’s approval – and the three EU Institutions already in alignment – negotiations between Commission, Council and Parliament on the final text will be a mere formality.

We can expect the rubberstamp by June, ushering in a sophisticated and probably enduring system of health checks across Europe, enhanced by the draconian Passenger Locator Form, also on its way to becoming law.

So it makes no odds what our  State here thinks or does, the world is ploughing on with or without any relation to Mr Johnson or Mr Hancock, they are merely bobbing up and down on the tide of global affairs.  This should be a relief to those who think vaccine status certification is  part of a uk state  scheme to enslave Humanity. Pressure for  this is merely a high-tech extension of existing protocols for the management of infectious diseases, e.g. yellow fever etc.and innoculation requirement going back many decades. For all of us who have followed the design, implementation, and use of  single sign on systems since before 2002, it will be no surprise that digital identity has become a  global means of authentication (i.e. you are who you say you are) and authorization (you have the rights you say you have.) Authn/Authz is what it is all about, and it’s fair enough if you pause to think for 2 seconds,  We do not want to live in a world where people pretend to be someone they are not to steal  or where people say they own things or rights they do not own. It is right to be… Read more »

It’s an honest comment, fair play, far less ignorant than most. But the same applies to car insurance, motor tax, present passports or plane tickets or train tickets , indeed any informationtechnology. I agree it must be done properly. but the answer does not lie in ludditism.

“I’ll get through” – yeah, first time you will. Until the biometric database is promptly hacked, as happened in Israel (7 million+ records). And has happened in India (1 billion+ records passed freely around WhatsApp groups). Not everyone by any means will get a digital id, they will simply use yours.

“it’s a bad day for crooks and law breakers” except for the crooks and law breakers in government, and their cronies.

Leaving aside any moral absolutes one might wish to hold to on this topic, the last year has made clear that not even liberal democracies that have long been stable can be trusted not to go mad and have the executive abuse its power.

Just listen to yourself – did you ever think as a child that you’d grow up to have a job like this? Is the money they’re paying you really enough for selling your soul? These are sad days we’re living through where so many people in this country seem to have lost their survival instinct and are willingly shrugging their way to extinction.

In any case, if I’m to be a second class citizen, at least I’ll be one who can write properly. And if you’re the kind of person I’d find myself conversing with as a first class citizen, I’d be better off with the other second class folks. 😉

I was actually joking. I expect some people do think there are UK or global schemes to enslave humanity, but I don’t. What I think is pretty certain is that most of us are well aware that what’s happening with the reaction to covid is not confined to the UK but is global, albeit with local variances.

So you want a digital ID that’s tied to antibodies in your blood and connected to a Central Bank Digital Currency, and you’re naïve enough to think this won’t be abused by global “authorities”?

Have you seen what’s going on in China? You step out of line there and you’re restricted in every way. You can’t do anything there that the Communist government doesn’t approve of.

The same thing will happen here when they bring in a myriad of restrictions on your every move to “protect the environment” or stop you from “spreading hate” or whatever they dream up.

If you believe you’re one of the owners of this country, the only “digital ID” you need is a strong username and password (or equivalent) to get access to the services you use. In other words, it’s more like your car keys than your passport. If you want to be chipped like an animal, that’s up to you, but don’t impose your weird restrictions on other people.

We already have identification for the purposes of authentication. You don’t need something in your blood that can be automatically read by any number of government approved sensors to have authentication.

If you think you do, then you’re the mug.

Large parts of the world were once behind Communism and Fascism. I’m sure you would have been right in there with them.

When they were putting Jews on trains, I’m sure there were people like you saying that “the whole Reich is doing it, throw your dummy out”. When the Chinese extract organs from their living citizens, I’m sure there are doctors like you saying “the whole of China is doing this, throw your dummy out.”

If that’s the best argument you have, you are a sad, depraved person indeed.

There are plenty of third party certificate schemes. They are voluntary and they are not tied to innate characteristics or whether people have submitted to human genetic engineering. That is discrimination we’ve never had in this country.

There may well be such a system and it may well be used to discriminate against people like me who do not wish to play a part in it. That doesn’t mean that I and many others won’t oppose it. Maybe we’ll win, maybe you’ll win. It also doesn’t mean that people like you who support it aren’t the fascist authoritarians that you are.

Reading your commentary and subsequent follow ups to other commenters, I can only assume you are an automaton of some kind with pre-programmed responses: “It’s an honest comment, fair play, far less ignorant than most.” So, let’s give you the chance to prove the honestly, fairness and lack of ignorance in your own position. Firstly, any comparison to existing forms of ID such as current passports and driving licenses are invalid; why? I don’t need an untested medical intervention in order to acquire either of these. Immediately this changes the nature of of these ID’s and it’s not fair enough, if you pause to think about it for more than two seconds. Hold on! I hear you say, this is needed in our current predicament, with such a deadly virus about! Well, no, and if you can find any statistics to disprove this, here’s your chance. It appears to be largely comparable to flu. We can discount your example of yellow fever. So now, we arrive at a crossroads – we are implementing an invasive form of ID for a virus not much scarier than flu (if at all). This seems to be a gross overreaction, or, quite possibly a… Read more »

The people who think there’s malicious intent never thought it was confined to the UK and it clearly isn’t. I don’t feel comforted by the fact that I’m not one of the ‘bad guys’ because in their eyes I clearly am – no vaccine/ social media history/ speaking out against the government for example. Non criminal hate incidents can include any opinion I express which disagrees with current government-approved thinking and will be reflected on any social pass they introduce. If you’re a paid employee whose job it is to write posts like these you already know this. If you’re not, your ‘vaxxport’ will already be marked by your presence here. I’d scuttle away quickly before someone thinks you’re a real sceptic…

I’m astonished, not at the now incontrovertible evidence that our political class are totalitarian bounders of the first order, as I have long suspected this to be the case, but at the supine useless submissiveness of the rest of us. Myself not the least of these. It is true that for Germans the demand for papers whenever one wants to go anywhere is a return to normal – in 1938. It is true that for East Germans, Poles, Rumanians, Czechs, etc, half the country working as unpaid spies for the government and reporting on their families, friends, and neighbours, is a return to normal – during the Cold War. It is true that for some Australians the government forbidding anyone to leave the country is a return to normal – for those who once lived behind the Iron Curtain. So we see, again, as if we needed it, that it is true that if we do not remember the past we will be forced to repeat it. “Freedom has many difficulties and democracy is not perfect, but we have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in, to prevent them from leaving us.” So the western… Read more »

I have absolutely no idea why this article has been written
Anyone can go directly to the Press Office of the EU to read in English the decision yesterday, which is consistent with my post on here I made yesterday. Link below.
The COVID19 Certificate is NOT a travel document and it was decided it cannot be used as a discriminatory ‘passport’, it cannot be used to stop freedom of movement across Schengen. It cearly shouldn’t exist at all, but has been successfully watered down to be mainly cosmetic. By the way if anyone wants this certificate they need to do a test of some sort, probably quickie antigen will do.
I have urged everyone to starve ‘fon’ of oxygen, just ignore completely he/it will get fed up quick enough. He is just talking rubbish about this certificate ( as everything else).

Isn’t it funny how all the journalists are writing about a passport scheme and yet NOT one is writing about the outrageous numbers of people experiencing severe adverse reactions and deaths to these experimental biologicals. Wake up people. Please do some research before you take the koolaid. You may be pleasantly surprised to know your risks, which for most is less than a whisker.
