Anti-Lockdown March in London

by Toby Young
15 May 2021 3:01 PM

Anti-lockdown protests are taking place across the world today. Above are protestors streaming through Central London this afternoon. Needless to say, the BBC has yet to cover this, although one Lockdown Sceptics contributor estimates the turnout at 100,000. More later.

Another good turnout – London – Freedom March 👊 #londonprotest #freedom pic.twitter.com/G0XZ7hof9j

— Jonny Dixon-Smith (@jonnydixonsmith) May 15, 2021

Stop Press: Still no coverage of the march by 4.30pm, other than this short snippet posted on the Guardian’s ‘Covid Live’ page. Just “several hundred” protesters outside Broadcasting House, London, according to one of the paper’s reporters.

Stop Press 2: Nothing on the BBC front, too – though editors have found the time to publish stories on cattle grazing in gardens and “a lost whale” on the BBC News homepage, under the banner “Must see”. And, of course, on the pro-Palestine protest.

https://twitter.com/michaelwcurzon/status/1393592075137036288?s=21

Stop Press 3: BBC News has stuck a report about an anti-Israel protest in London on the front page of its website. But still nothing about the anti-lockdown protest.

Depends whether or not you want a fight with the Police cordon! Funny, the BBC knows you’re on the way, gets the Police to protect them but doesn’t report it. Presumably a baying mob of thousands at your doorstep isn’t newsworthy!

Don’t forget according to BBC protest descriptions, you can injure up to 27 police officers and your protest will be described as ‘largely peaceful’.

I’d call for all future protests to be staged outside the Ministry of Truth. This is no longer just about them lying, it’s about censorship. How amazing would it be for a protest to be so big that BBC staff are not even able to get into work?

Also a pro-Palestinian march in London. An indication that Covid is not stopping people from gathering.

… and there is connection : Israel and the UK in the forefront of vaccine distortion and repression.

Also in the forefront of oppressing the population of Palestine, and distorting the truth about it.

Probably not the place to discuss this, but i would ask you to think very, very hard about who’s been launching missiles for decades into populated cities in Israel. There’s a difference between targeting military installations and targeting civilians. And if your response is going to be “but Israel bombs schools and villages” i would ask you to also explain why does Hamas keep building their missile sites in villages and next to schools.

Your view is very partial in terms of a colonised people subjected to disgusting brutality by an invader apartheid state.

The nature of the Israeli state fills all civilised people with disgust. Don’t whine about the indignities of Covid oppression if you support it. Be consistent.

Good point. Well made. People are, justifiably, fed up after 14 months of ‘lockdowns’. Maybe 6 generations in a refugee camp might be a little more polarising.

I find we’re in agreement with most things, Rick, except your explosive defence of socialism of course. It’s an understatement to say Israel have far too much influence on governments around the world, and are almost entirely responsible for middle east conflict. It makes me laugh when you see the BBC et al distracting us with claims of Russia interfering in our politics while Israel are allowed carte blanche meddling with zero scrutiny.

You can’t have it both ways the bbc are a bunch of cunts but their major job at the moment is covid fear pushing, the Arabs and Jews blowing the shite out of each other for the last 70 years, it is what they do. The BBC only reported it to put anti covid rebellion out of the news.

“the Arabs and Jews blowing the shite out of each other for the last 70 years, it is what they do.”

That’s a really brainless non-analysis. And it’s not ‘Arabs v. Jews’. Many Jews are strongly opposed to the Israeli state’s behaviour – and are targeted by its lobby, whilst unappealing Arab states (and other totalitarian interests) ally with Israel.

I’m not having anything ‘both ways’. Have a look at the Glasgow Media Group’s structured and proper analysis of BBC reporting on Palestine : it has always been biased to the Israeli point of view, just as current reporting on Covid is overwhelmingly pro-government.

If you’re awake, you should have noticed that the link is about an establishment narrative being pushed in both cases (as also in the case of the Grauniad). Note the close relationships between the Johnson government and Israel’s police state – and learn. Israel is a pioneer in methods of repression.

I can’t find anything about today’s worldwide freedom marches on the main news sites or using Google News search. I’m left wondering if the government issued a D Notice preventing it from being covered.

I was there – this protest was definitely much bigger than the last anti-lockdown protest and that one was huge. I’m telling you now … until this government removes all lockdown restrictions then these demonstrations are not going away any time soon – when people who have never protested before in their life are attending you just know this is not just some lunatic left-wing fringe protest that will simply blow over .. this is here for as long as it takes. Newcomers who take that first step to attend these protests are realising that they are not alone and are growing in confidence and are spreading the word – they have lost any fear they once had and are now openly expressing their dissatisfaction with the authoritarian nature of this government – this is a common peoples revolt and it is going to grow, and the more the numbers expand the more these protestors are determined to be triumphant. As for the BBC … just because they are not reporting these protests doesn’t mean that they did not happen … the MSM do not have the dominance in the information market they once had and to paraphrase Ayn Rand… Read more »

I was at the London march with my wife and kids at the end of April and politely hammered the BBC over the phonelines over the proceeding days over its complete lack of coverage. Public Broadcaster my arse. All I got was rude arrogance – from the local offices and from the capital. They deserve to be smashed up. They’re all nincompoops.

Complain in writing with a real pen. The administrative burden on the BBC to open, read, compose reply, print, post and store your original costs about £25 per complaint. I bin them as soon as the reply arrives, it’s always obfuscation anyway. The satisfaction comes from the cost. If every licence tax payer wrote to complain, they’d go bust.
It’s economic warfare and they can’t win.

Breaking News BBC Fact Checkers investigate London march Fact Checkers from the BBC have investigated the march in London May 15th and have established the following 1 The march was a pro lockdown & maskwearing march. 2 The march was infiltrated by a small number of far right anti vaxxers carrying anti lockdown banners. 3 The march was a spontaneous event triggered by the threat of the new super triple Indian scariant 4. The Marchers were all brainwashed by WahDrumpf, people who believe their own lying eyes instead of the official truth from the BBC. 5. There were only a few hundred people at the march, all disgustingly white, definitely not around 3/4 of a million, oh no. Jo Biden  & Dominion counted the marchers for us and officially confirmed 666 people. One of the marchers said ‘I just pray to god that they do not open the pubs or allow people to go on holiday, we might as well get it over with and all kill ourselves’ Some of the marchers had less positive views one saying ‘Everyone should have been annihilated well before Christmas, this is putting our leaders to an awful lot of trouble’ It’s important to… Read more »

I wrote to the beeb to complain about lack of coverage last time. They must respond if more than 100 people complain, but there was no response. Does that mean less than 100 people wrote to complain? Please do it!

I put in a compliant about BBC bias on not covering the last lockdown march, they said they had. Not sure where they covered it. I looked pretty hard on their web site watched their news and listened to the radio. Not a jot. Not sure but I think they may have an agenda.
