Ministers Considering Delaying Freedom Day by a Month to Give Businesses “Certainty”

by Michael Curzon
11 June 2021 11:47 AM

“The argument is already over” about there being an extension to lockdown, according to one cabinet source. The real question, then, is “for how long will restrictions continue”. Reports suggest that the Government is considering extending lockdown by a month rather than by two weeks so as to give businesses “certainty” that “Freedom Day” won’t be delayed again. Er, come again?

For many businesses – including those which have yet to reopen since the easing of restrictions last month due to the continuation of social distancing guidelines, and those which are taking in little money compared with pre-lockdown levels for the same reason – a four-week extension to lockdown would provide only the certainty that survival will continue to be a great (and potentially impossible) struggle.

The Times has more.

Plans are being discussed for either a two-week or a four-week delay to the final easing of restrictions on June 21st, if the Indian variant of the coronavirus continues to lead to a significant rise in infections and hospital admissions.

The variant now accounts for nine in 10 cases and health leaders called yesterday for delay to prevent hospitals filling up with unvaccinated patients.

Ministers are concerned that a two-week delay would not give businesses the certainty they need because it might have to be extended. They said a four-week delay would ensure that more people in their forties have received two jabs and that the vaccinations have had time to take effect. “This is about giving people certainty,” the source said. “The worst-case scenario is that we ease restrictions and then have to implement them again. This has to be a one-way ticket.”

The Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi today said that the Government must be “really careful” with reopening, telling Times Radio that officials must “continuously learn about how the virus is behaving”.

“We had a very big opening on May 17th where people could meet friends indoors, in a restaurant, in a pub, and socialise indoors as well,” he added. “And I think it’s important that we look at the data very carefully over this weekend and then share it with the nation.”

Some scientific advisers believe a month-long delay that pushes the end of restrictions into the school holidays will allow vaccination to catch up with the faster-spreading strain.

Another cabinet source said that they believed a two-week delay would be sufficient. “By June 21st everyone over 50 who wants a second jab should have had one,” the source said. “You just have to wait another couple of weeks so that they all have full antibody protection. At that point you really have protected the vulnerable.

“Of course there are businesses that want us to stick with June 21st but when Rishi [Sunak, the Chancellor] is letting it be known he’d be happy with a delay you know the argument is already over.”

Worth reading in full.

How can it “continue to lead to significant increases in hospitalisations?” when it hasn’t done anything of the sort so far – yes a few more people in hospital, but fewer today than yesterday and still FAR fewer than the most optimistic SAGE view.

And they’d be insisting that GPs in the UK treat symptoms as early as possible instead of waiting until their patients can no longer breathe, which is much too late, and not censoring anyone who tries to apply their medical training and experience in the best interests of patients.

The final Milestone is due on June 21st when all reductions were promised to be lifted.
This will not be allowed to happen.
Vaccine passports/Track and Trace will be mandatory, as will masks and social distancing. The entire week of the 21st will be taken up with a “third wave” which will suddenly be “rampant” and this will now be attributed to the South African Variant, which will now be officially more deadly than what we have had previously. This will be accompanied with yet more issues with vaccine supplies. One of the vaccines will be said to be effective against the South African strain, but a problem with its manufacture will emerge.

This is all so predictable. Any old excuse for a continuation of restrictions / fear. This gives times to up “case” numbers through increases testing and altered PCR cycle ratio. I expect they will also rapidly create some hospitalisations and deaths (with not of) to demonstrate that restrictions must continue after the initial month and put down any dissent by ramping up the fear factor again. Then it will be lockdown (in practice) until everyone gets a “booster” injection tailored to the variant of choice. No sooner will this have been done (taking us to Christmas at least) than woopiedo another variant will have been found and the whole merry-go-round will continue indefinitely.

All the measures are aimed at two things: vaccine passports and lockdowns starting next winter. The ultimate goal is to have the public put back in their box.”

There’s nothing for them to gain by rioting. The last round of UK riots (about 10 years ago now? Coincidence?) seemed to descend fairly quickly into an all you can nick buffet of big screen tellys and games consoles, possibly as an expression of frustration at the outcome of the 2008 ‘crash’ since the economic impact of it meant many were even less likely to be able to afford to buy those things. This time, the pointy finger of blame has yet to settle on anyone, for many reasons, so there’s nowhere for the mob to direct their anger.

A two week delay to a relatively meaningless event, given that we know because they’ve said so and the contracts are signed to the tune of £100s of millions, that mass testing, track and trace, international travel restrictions, SAGE, vaccine madness etc will continue. The covid industry is now enormous and bestows money and power on those in control. The 21st June won’t change that one jot. The only glimmer of hope I can see is if the masses get too used to freedom, if the govt overcook the freedom on the 21st, and refuse to go back when the next lockdowns are imposed. But I don’t see much grounds for optimism, yet.

Another month to get the over 40s double vaccinated, then it will be another month for the over 30s and so on until winter and we all know what happens next.

Watched Hugo Talks re the nurses trying to educate the morons queuing to be vaccinated. I really think these people are too stupid to live – good riddance if they do end up dying off.

A most depressing experience yesterday – friend OK with her kids getting jabbed because she believes in vaccines. No point trying to raise the issue of only being approved for emergency use, long term effects unknown, yellow card system – before I’d even opened my mouth I was firmly shut down.

Then over 20s, then over 10s, younger children too maybe. Then round up us refuseniks? Then the boosters and flu vax to be cajoled into. Then of course winter.

It seems certain some healthy children who would not have died from covid will die of these vaccines. But ……. the benefits out way the risks ya know!!!

Doublespeak at its finest. I’m just getting on with life, and even more so after the 21st. If people want to remain gagged and be ‘vaccinated’ out of existence, that’s their decision. Otherwise just leave me and my family alone. My freedom and yours is inalienable and no government can take it away from you.

The big casualty in here is hospitality, music and theatres, is this sector going to stand by and let itself be decimated? Individually we can ignore the rules as we wish, the police seem to have given up enforcing rules but you cannot go to a theatre if it is not open or only issues limited tickets. Time for them to stand up to this nonsense.

On a legal note, the English regs for wearing face-masks on trains automatically expire on 20th June, as yet they have made no moves to renew these. Will they replace these rules with guidelines? Face-mask wearing is starting to slip away as it is, if it goes to guidelines I think many will ditch their masks and this potent symbol of covid compliance will have gone.

Is that true about the laws on face nappies on trains automatically expiring? They’ll keep quiet about it if so. I go bare-faced most of the time anyway. I would put stickers on all the notices about them, but trains and stations are very full of CCTV.

It’s very strange. The bulk of people I talk to now are resigned to June 21 not happening, confess that it’s all rubbish and yet admit they’ll follow the ‘rules’. The PsyWar is won (or lost, from our perspective) Part of me won’t feel too sad when 1000s are taken this winter due to being jabbed.

We love to follow rules, even when we know they are stupid. I see it often, the anxiety in people when the rules aren’t clear and they don’t know how they are supposed to behave. I see this behaviour in myself and it requires effort to overcome this.

The narrative needs to change – spread the word it’s ok to break the rules. From June 21st tell people it’s their civic duty to break the rules.

There must be a tipping point where when x% of people aren’t wearing masks in shops that it will tell those who don’t want to wear them that it’s ok to take them off, they aren’t going to get told off for not following the rules.

Zahawi thinks that officials must “continuously learn about how the virus is behaving”.

He added that if Covi refused to behave the Government would have no other choice but to “smack its bottom and send it to bed early without any supper”.

A poll from YouGov showed that 72% of respondents favoured this action, whilst FullFact have disproven those who say you can’t smack a virus’s bottom as “ignorant of the science.”

Got to ask but who’s actually getting tested for all these so called “cases” to be reported?

There is a testing centre close to where I live and I hardly see anybody there. Last week the wife and I went away for a few days and opposite the hotel was a testing centre and whilst loading the car the centre opened at 9:00 there were 4 cars waiting to go in. We left at 9:30 and there was nobody there and the staff looked like they were settling down to a hard days boredom.
