If the vaccination of children against Covid is given the green light in England, almost nine in 10 parents will be happy for their own children to be included in the roll-out, according to a new survey released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Well over 30% of parents said they were “unsure but probably yes” in favour of vaccination. The Guardian has the story.
The survey of more than 4,400 parents with children under 16 and attending school found 88% said they would definitely or probably agree to vaccinate their child, with just 12% saying they would not favour vaccination.
The survey was conducted in April and May, before the Pfizer vaccine was given approval by the U.K. medicines regulator for children aged 12 to 15 at the start of June. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is expected to advise the Government later this summer on whether to allow children over 12 to be vaccinated.
Professor Anthony Harnden, deputy chair of the JCVI, told the BBC: “JCVI are very aware of the issues surrounding both the pros and the cons of vaccinating their children, which we will talk about in due course, but actually what we need to be absolutely sure is that these vaccines benefit children in some way… so we are looking at this data very carefully.”
But Professor Calum Semple, a member of SAGE, said not enough was known about possible side-effects if children were given Covid jabs.
“Vaccines are safe but not entirely risk-free. We are aware in adults about clots, and there’s some safety data from America showing rare heart problems associated with some of the vaccines. So until that data is really complete for children, I’m not persuaded that the risk-benefit for children has been clarified,” Semple told the BBC, speaking in a personal capacity.
He added: “There’s [a] very nuanced debate going on here but at the moment I don’t think there’s enough evidence to support vaccinating children.” …
The ONS survey found parents with children at secondary school were the most enthusiastic for vaccines, with 53% saying they would definitely support vaccination and just four per cent saying they definitely would not. Nearly 35% of parents said they were “unsure but probably yes” in favour.
Among the parents of primary school-age children, 43% were definitely in favour and 46% were “unsure but probably yes” in favour of vaccination. Just three per cent said they were “definitely” opposed, while a little more than seven per cent were recorded as “unsure but probably no”.
According to the ONS, the most common reasons given by parents opposed to vaccination were that not enough research had been done, or they wanted more information about long-term side-effects or had concerns over vaccine safety.

There is a non-zero risk of serious complications or death from the vaccines, whereas children (other than those with specific health conditions) are at no risk of dying or getting seriously ill from Covid. Therefore, how can it ‘benefit’ the children if they are given a vaccine with a small risk in order to protect them against a virus which poses virtually no risk?

If they need to look at the data “very carefully” then it suggests the vaccine would not benefit children. There is still no long term safety data. This is something which will be very relevant to children.

It is disingenuous to point to the small risk of vaccine death, as these small percentages generate hundreds of inevitable real deaths when 9m children are being used as Guinea Pigs. Children 10-16 have 100x (up to 1000x applying the under reporting caveat) more chance of dying from the vaccine than C19, and under 10s have 164x (1640x applying caveat). There is statistically negligible risk for healthy kids under 16 dying from C19. Let’s go further into these ONS figures, for 10-16 it is 1 in 2.5 million of dying from C19, and for 5-9 age range it is 1 in 5m. There are 9m UK schoolchildren, which equates to around half a dozen expected statistical deaths from C19. Remember that OK! To date the vaccines are killing 1 in 24,000 according to the latest survey quoted on LDS, they are also causing numerous serious but non fatal side effects (even if Prof Semple wants to ignore the MHRA and VAERS figures). As with so much of what is in the media, it is all a matter of how information is interpreted and spun. I also note that the survey was conduced in April and May. Rather more information about potential harms has come out since then. Given the massive propaganda campaign in favour of the vax and the corresponding mis-information about Covid risks (especially to kids) I’m not surprised if a lot of parents are in favour. But would that be the case if they had more information ?

They’ve been running the same games for years. That said, there is widespread uptake in the UK, but it’s plausible that part of the campaign to make that so has been #2
I don’t trust these results. I don’t trust these surveys, and I don’t trust the ONS. It is a government funded organisation, telling the government what it wants to hear to justify their policies and decisions.
I don’t believe this for a nano second. remember that opinion polls have been weaponised to influence behaviour. Whether you think Trump was cheated or not, the fact is the polls were saying Biden by a landslide.
I think when push comes to shove you’ll find the parents who actually go through with it is lower than 90%, but I think the 10% who said they would not is a fairly good measure of how many full-on sceptics there are in the UK. There are some pro-vax sceptics – some who post here – but not that many I think. That’s where we are – we have to build from that 10%. It will take a long time. I hope some of the leading lights among sceptics are up for the struggle.
If the worst case scenario on these vaccinations prove correct our percentages will grow through depopulation and sterilisation.

Let’s not get into pro or antivaxx. The Dragon and I are late 60’s and we’re unjabbed. Others choose to take the gene therapy risk. The key here is free choice. I won’t tell you that you shouldn’t and you don’t tell me that I should.
I am all for free choice and I would not normally tell others what I thought they should do in this regard, but the way the vaccines have been developed, tested and publicised, the way information has been suppressed or withheld, the coercion regarding opening up, travel, employment, the suppression of alternative treatments, the deliberate distortion of data about risk vs reward, the portrayal of jabs as a civic duty, are unprecedented and deeply worrying. The choice may tehnically be free (no gun to your head) but the consent is not informed. That should be counteracted.
Anyway, pro and anti vax was incidental to my point which is that the 10% or so who said a definite NO are very likely to be sceptics, and that very few sceptics are likely to have said yes, so the 10% is a plausible measure of support for the broad position of those who post BTL here.
I was vax neutral and until I saw the evidence of how harmful these injections are. It’s hard, when you’re not frightened of the disease, to advocate for a dangerous vaccine more likely to kill you than the virus. Some might say insane.
If they were harmless, I’d consider them a cure to get us out of this mess, but they manifestly are not. I cannot ignore truth.

These drugs are not conventional vaccines but developed from gene therapies.
Gene therapies have been used in cancer treatments, where the treatment is targeted at the tumour. The tumour will be composed from tissues depending on what type of tissue it arises in. These gene therapies were used to target a specific cancer tissue, so if you have colon cancer it will go there, liver cancer – a different target.
So yes, of course they know which tissues will be targeted by the gene therapy renamed a vaccine.

Well I am sure the question was a leading one and that the actual % will be lower if this ever comes to pass. But no sceptic would ever answer yes, so I think we now have a good picture of the number of true sceptics – around 10%. That seems realistic to me.
I misread the headline as saying 90% of parents would NOT allow their children to be vaccinated, and was pleasantly surprised, as I didn’t expect it to be quite that high. Then I read the article, and realised my mistake as a sadness lay heavy on my heart. I didn’t expect the number of parents who would allow their children to be experimented on to be that high! How many experts have argued against vaccinating children, and there is literally no benefit to them.
I would like to see what the actual wording of the survey question was, as we know that they are often very leading. Maybe it was phrased something like, “If the vaccine was shown to reduce the chances of your child dying, would you let them take it?”. If not, then I am very concerned about this countries children, and our future in general.
They haven’t been informed that they are experimental, and they would choose not to believe you if you told them. There’s no way out of this for them – we can’t do anything about it. Our kids are just the lucky ones.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks that a child needs this injection – even if they believe in them for themselves. It beggars belief and I am constantly in a state of shock at the stupidity that surrounds us.
